My Philosophy of Education

The desire to learn should be created, if not already present, in students through the ability to formatively assess, plan, and create fun and informative lessons on any subject. I believe that connecting real world experience to curriculum makes learning more enjoyable and helps develop essential connections within the mind. I am very excited and passionate about learning myself, and children often imitate what they see. The love of learning is a quality that is important to instill early on in education.

I believe in creating an environment of mutual respect among students. I believe that part of the respect a teacher can show her students is to never give up on any of them. It is important to work through the issues of reluctant learners, rather than push them aside.

I strongly believe in the use of differentiated instruction, and the use of multiple teaching methods. I believe in guided learning, and that nurturing the interests of individuals helps to encourage the enjoyment of learning. Through the use of these techniques and careful planning, it is possible to reach all students within a classroom.
